Glass Fusing Workshop: Make a Dish (August 2026)
About this Event
Glass Fusing Workshop - Two Sessions Included
Glass fusing is the art of stacking and melting separate pieces of glass together in a specialized high-temperature oven, called a kiln, to form a single, solid piece of art.
Come and create a piece of art!
The process of melting glass requires understanding the nuances of the materials, chemistry and physics of heat and cooling over a specific time frame.
It is highly recommended that you have done the Glass Fussing Introduction Workshop.
This Glass Fusing workshop requires two sessions:
PART 1: Designing and assembling your own fused art glass shallow dish or bowl BASE. Learn how to to cut your base and design your colourful pattern. We will explore composition and foundational fusing techniques to achieve the best results. Your first firing will fuse the 2 vibrant layers of art glass together, while maintaining the shapes that you have designed into your piece.
Part 1 is on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
PART 2: Slumping. Your flat fired shape requires finishing the rough edges. Understanding the importance of “cold working” techniques to the appearance of your finished piece is crucial. We will “Kiln Wash” your mold and ensure that the mold is ready to be fired in the kiln. Work can be picked up 3 days after the workshop.
Part 2 in on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
All projects are fired by our staff and all you need to bring is your creativity!
