Glass Bridge Presentation at Eventscape NYC during NYCxDesign

Thu May 12 2022 at 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm

Eventscape | Queens, NY

UPenn and Eventscape have collaborated on creating a bridge made 100% from glass and acrylic.
About this Event

Eventscape recently participated in research with the Polyhedral Structures Laboratory at UPenn’s Weitzman School of Design that investigates the application of Polyhedral Graphic Statics in the design of lightweight glass structures. In this educational presentation, participants involved in the study will discuss the fabrication, assembly, and load-bearing capacity of a compression-dominant glass bridge constructed by the dry assembly of hollow glass units.

The full scale prototype will be on display and a research presentation will start at 6:30 PM EST. Attendees will have an opportunity to view the glass bridge prototype and learn how the researchers addressed the challenges related to building a large-scale structure using glass as the primary structural system.
