About this Event
In the lead-up to Burns night, we’re delighted to present in partnership with St Mungo’s Mirrorball, ‘Glasgow: City of Poets’ – a celebration of Glasgow’s poets and the city’s place in the history of Scottish poetry.
The event will reflect on the legacy of Robert Burns, following his death at the end of the 18th century, and will explore the development of poetry in Glasgow through the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. We’ll present film and audio from the National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image and Sound Archive with readings of work by some of the most significant poets of the past, celebrated poets of the present, and contemporary voices paving the way for poets of the future.
This event coincides with the 20th anniversary of St Mungo’s Mirrorball and is part of the Kelvin Hall’s programme to celebrate the 850th birthday of the City of Glasgow.
