A guide to an earlier stage of evolution
About this Event

This audio/poetic performance invites the audience/guests to relax and dissemble their multicellular, bacterial, and primaeval selves, while conversely reflecting on the activity of ‘collecting’ as a human activity. ANTEDILUVIAN’s sonic voyage into deep time, and the unmooring of what it is to be embodied, also convenes with the matrices within Eva Vēvere’s dark and glinting installation ‘Hedgerow Bodies’.

(Disclaimer - the artist is not responsible for any metamorphosis that might occur).

This performance stems from early conversations around the term ‘rest and resist’ which took place between writer and artist Zan Breathneach, artist Eva Vēvere and curator Debi Paul within the houseWORKhomeWORK project. It is an evolution of a performance called ‘RE-COLLECT’ conceived for and commissioned by the Butler Gallery in 2023.

Zan Breathnach (Suzanne Walsh) is a writer and artist working mainly with sound and performance, who has recently returned to their native Wexford. Recent works include writing and audio contribution for Michael Higgins’ ‘A Shooting on Brandon’ film (2025), poetic/musical bilingual performance ‘An Guth Atáim ag Fanacht’ performed at Fleadh Ceoil (2025), and ‘Lazarus Lingua’ audio/vocal performance for Disrupt Festival, at the Project Art Centre (2024). They also publish art writing for several artists and institutions, and they are currently working on a book with Veer 2 press.

Debi Paul is a visual artist and curator; her practice is rooted in both performance and place, with a focus on the body. She often draws on / learns from site – specific communities of interest. Her work observes the connection between practice and philosophy and ideas that relate to the material world. Current practice research focuses on ‘the sensate’ ritual, and elements of magic realism.

/////////////////////////
