Gizmos and Gadgets for Everyday Life (In-Person)

Every day there are activities in our lives that we need to or want to do – making a meal, taking a shower, balancing our checkbook, playing a musical instrument, working in the garden. With Parkinson’s, sometimes one’s ability to do these actives confidently and safely can be affected. When this happens, working with an Occupational Therapist (OT) can by extremely beneficial!

Join Megan Shah, OTR/L for an interactive and engaging discussion about what OTs do, how they help their clients, and explore the many gizmos and gadgets they use to help people achieve their goals. You will discover that there is much more to working with an OT than just the activities of daily living!

Megan will also explain how to set specific, achievable, goals and what to expect when working with an Occupational Therapist. Attendees will have the opportunity to try some devices and have an open conversation with Megan about the tools that could work for them.

Megan shares: I am a Wisconsin gal, originally from Appleton (just outside of Green Bay). I went to the OT Masters Program at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and then moved to Seattle in 2017. My family and I moved down to Vancouver, WA, at the end of 2022, and have loved living in this area and the PNW in general. We especially all love kayaking and picking fresh fruit when it's in season.

I’ve worked in skilled nursing facilities, home health, outpatient neuro, and pain management, and with low vision and pre-driving training as well. I am Saebo certified and enjoy helping people find the independence we all value in daily life.
