About this Event
Did you know that nearly 900,000 Albertans have registered their intent to donate organs and tissues, with the majority being women? Despite overwhelming support for organ donation, many are unsure of how to take the next steps. Join us for an enlightening and emotional evening as we dive deep into the importance of organ and tissue donation from a woman’s perspective.
Our keynote speaker, Su-Ling Goh, Senior Communications Advisor for Give Life Alberta, will share essential insights into what women need to know about organ donation, including a special focus on a female-specific donation. Following the presentation, engage in an interactive panel discussion with two incredible women whose lives have been profoundly impacted by organ donation.
- Becky Crowther will share her poignant journey as a donor mother who chose to give the gift of life after the tragic loss of her daughter, Hannah.
- Laurie Anderson, a heart transplant recipient and CFO of ONE Properties, will offer her inspiring story of resilience, leadership, and the profound gratitude she carries for her second chance at life.
This event is a must-attend for anyone interested in learning more about the life-saving impact of organ donation. Come and be part of a conversation that could change lives.

Su-Ling Goh is the Senior Communications Advisor for Give Life Alberta, Alberta Health Services’ organ and tissue donation program. She proudly joined the team after 17 years as the award-winning Health Reporter at Global Edmonton, where she always felt honoured to share inspirational stories of generous donor families and grateful recipients.
In her new role with AHS, Su-Ling is encouraging a culture of donation in Alberta through awareness campaigns, community engagement and public education sessions. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and a diploma in Radio and Television from NAIT.
Becky Crowther recently retired from her career as a dental assistant. For decades, she and her family have been contributing to their community through their work with the Stollery Foundation, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Alberta Dreams, SPCA, Kinette Club of Fort McMurray and parent-student councils. Becky’s Sheltie, Oscar, was just approved by St. John Ambulance and PAWSS to be a therapy dog at MacEwan University.
Becky and her husband Doug had twins in 1997 - Jacob and Hannah. In 2022, at the age of 25, Hannah passed away. Knowing her wish, her family chose to donate her organs and tissues; Hannah’s gifts saved five lives and greatly improved many more.
Laurie Anderson is the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of ONE Properties and a certified professional accountant. She has a long history of volunteering for various health-related governance boards including the University Hospital Foundation and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation Boards. Laurie has also volunteered with St John Ambulance in various board leadership positions, currently serving as the Chancellor of St John Ambulance Canada and participating internationally with St John Ambulance International.
Laurie is an enthusiastic leader whose life story is a testament to resilience, leadership and service. As a previous L-VAD (left ventricular assist device) patient and heart transplant recipient, Laurie has faced profound challenges that have permeated every aspect of her life. Her personal journey through various health and personal challenges have only deepened her commitment to community service and advocacy for health and wellness.
