It's our first week back of the new term and the perfect moment to fling our doors open and welcome all you lovely folk in!!
It's never too late to join our choir and this is the perfect first step to come see what it's like and give it a go. Join us for an evening rehearsal and enjoy singing in a sociable and fun community choir where everyone is welcome!
We can't wait to see you - the hardest bit is walking in the door - but don't worry we've got the kettle on and the biscuits out :D

WHAT TO EXPECT:
19:20pm-19:35pm
We'll start of with a warm welcome as you come through the door, our hot water urn will be on and so grab a cup of tea/coffee (we even have decaf!) and just get yourself comfy in the rehearsal room. Joe, our choir leader; Douggie our accompanist; and members of our lovely choir will be on hand to answer any questions or chat as we wait for folks to arrive.
19:35pm-19:50pm
We've warmed ourselves up with a cuppa, now time to warm our voices up. Joe will teach you our choir warm-up routine: some vocal exercises, a few silly sounds, and a couple of fun warm-up songs. We'll all be in the same boat and Joe is a pro when it comes to teaching his warm-ups, you'll soon get the hang of them!
19:50pm-19:55pm
We're all warmed up and now, before we muck in, enjoy a short performance by the existing choir members of one of the songs we've been working on this term. It's a great chance to see the music we've been looking at and to see how easy it is for a group of folks from all walks of life to come together to sing something fun and beautiful.
19:55pm-20:15pm
Now it's your turn. We're going to be learning one of our new pieces - that means not event the current choir members have rehearsed it yet! We'll be going from scratch and working on a section of it as we do in our normal weekly rehearsal. Get a feel for the music and how we learn it at The People's Show Choir York.
The idea of learning a song scare you? No worries - 1) Joe has plenty of experience teaching folks new music in an easy & accessible way, 2) Our friendly choir members are always on hand to help you out, whether its finding your place or being unsure which line to sing! 3) In the words of High School Musical "We're all in this together"
20:15pm-20:25pm
Tea Break - grab another brew, pop to the loo, or strike up a conversation. This is our mid-session break and a great chance to chill and refresh, ask questions you haven't had a chance to yet, or find out more from our choir members about what it's like being in the choir.
20:25pm-20:55pm
It's the final countdown - we'll carry on learning our new song and at the end of the evening, give it a go singing through it all together, accompanied by our brilliant pianist, Douggie.

You've made it! Congrats on attending your first choir rehearsal, now's your chance to ask any final questions in-person until next week (of course you can always get hold of us online!) and also make sure we've got you down on the register so we can check-in with you after the session!
