Gitanjali: A Living Offering of Devotion

The North Texas Hindu Mandir (NTHM) invites you to a special evening honoring Rabindranath Tagore’s masterpiece, Gitanjali. Awarded the Nobel Prize in 1913, Gitanjali holds a sacred place in modern devotional literature, offering a luminous blend of Bhakti, introspection, and poetic mysticism. Through its meditative prose-poems, Tagore expresses a longing for the Divine with simplicity, humility, and emotional depth—drawing deeply from Vaishnava traditions and Upanishadic wisdom.
To bring this work to life, NTHM is hosting a multidisciplinary performance staged by the artists of Dallas Kalakendra. This program weaves together spoken word, sangeet (music), and Rabindra Nritya—the expressive, classical dance style created by Tagore himself.
To ensure the performance resonates deeply with everyone, all songs from Gitanjali and the Puja Parjai will be sung in Hindi, accompanied by a brief introduction in English before each piece.
