Hare Krishna dear devotees,This year we will be celebrating the most auspicious occasion of Gita Maha Yajna on Sunday, 21st December 2025, at the Edinburgh Hindu Mandir.
Over 5,000 years ago, on the sacred battlefield of Kurukṣetra, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, compassionately delivered the eternal and transcendental wisdom of the Bhagavad-gītā to His intimate devotee and friend Arjuna.
As explained in Bhagavad-gita As It Is, this divine dialogue reveals the essence of all Vedic knowledge, the science of self-realisation, the goal of life, and the process of pure devotional service by which the soul can return to Kṛṣṇa’s eternal shelter.
Śrīla Prabhupāda describes that the Gītā was spoken not only to enlighten Arjuna, but to uplift all of humanity, guiding every sincere seeker toward a life of spiritual clarity, duty, surrender, and unconditional love for the Lord.
Gita Mahā Yajña 2025
On this sacred day, devotees worldwide come together to honour this divine revelation. In Edinburgh, we will:
Recite all 700 verses of the Bhagavad-Gītā collectively, remembering the profound conversation between the Lord and His devotee.
Perform a special Gita Mahā Yajña — and for the first time in Edinburgh, a fire yajña will be conducted while reciting selected verses from the Gītā.
Everyone is warmly invited to participate in this purifying ceremony.
