About this Event
Filmmakers Bridgette Yang and Samantha Berlanga share their most recent directorial works.
Thriving in the Bay Area and beyond, they are alumni and friends from the University of San Francisco. Both use filmmaking to empower matters close to the heart and their communities.
Girls' Night is for the women, femmes, and teenage girls navigating their 20s, 30s, and 40s. Featuring activations that expand on themes both films explore, pick up a limited edition postcard, free flowers for your hardworking self, and write, reflect, and accept your girlhood.
RSVP and mark your calendars for this intimate event.
About The Films & Filmmakers
fig (fuck instagram) by Bridgette Yang
Years after their falling out, two ex-best friends coincidentally get into the same Uber share.
Bridgette Yang is a Taiwanese American creative writer and film director based in San Francisco. Intertwining nostalgia and poetic language, she hopes to write stories that become mirrors for whoever is looking close enough. She's performed poetry at the Getty Center alongside John Legend, SFJAZZ, USC Festival of Books, and more. She was one of the five 2022-2023 Poetry Coalition Fellows with Youth Speaks, and is currently in the 2025 Academy Cohort with Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
As a filmmaker she's worked on music videos, commercials, and documentaries, finding a home in narrative storytelling. She loves the VS podcast, ties her shoelaces faster than you, and ironically can't snap but hopes to one day get there.
Pleasure Seekers by Samantha Berlanga
In Brooklyn, two lifelong best friends and a first-generation daughter confront their desires, fears, and longings around love, intimacy, and autonomy. As their lives intertwine, they discover unexpected parallels.
Samantha (she/they) is a proud queer filmmaker and Nuyorican, who was raised as a part of a diverse diaspora of latinx immigrants from the Caribbean and South America. She is currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area as a SFFilm House Resident. Working on her first feature documentary project, Pleasure Seekers.
