About this Event

Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.

You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

GIG Oklahoma City Guest instructors: Julia Avila and Bethany Crist

Julia Avila, black belt under Professor Chris Haueter, has been practicing jiujitsu for over 11 years. BJJ was not her first martial art, she practiced judo and had her first professional MMA fight before starting BJJ. She trains regularly and enjoys traveling and training with the BJJ Globetrotters all over the world. She is an instructor and owner of Outsiders Combat Club, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Bethany Crist is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt with six years of dedicated training on the mats. A well-rounded martial artist, she brings a powerful blend of skills, combining her BJJ expertise along with 3 years of boxing, self-defense, and weapons training. Her journey is fueled not just by technique, but by purpose.

A proud mom of two daughters, Bethany is deeply passionate about empowering women—both on and off the mats. She believes martial arts is more than a physical discipline; it’s a tool for self-growth, confidence, and resilience. As a women’s coach and assistant advanced no-gi coach, Bethany leads with strength and passion, creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive.

COST: $20 Min Donation. All Donations Welcome.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 10/26/25 at 12:00 PM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.

Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 10:30 am. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 11:00 am.
