Girls in Gis Nevada-Las Vegas Event

Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.

You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

GIG Nevada-Las Vegas Guest instructors: April Parks, Lyzz Mitrovic, & Alexa Yanes

April Parks is a 1st degree Black Belt, school owner (Vien Jiu Jitsu), educator and mom of four who was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. She always loved sports and competition, becoming a Division 1 Track athlete. April ventured onto the mats for the first time in 2011. As a full time working mom, April won 3 IBJJF World Championships at Adult, 2 Master World Championships, 7 Pan No-Gi Titles, and a myriad of other IBJJF tournaments at all her belt levels. April is a Medusa CJJ veteran and the founder of Grappling Getaways, professionally organized themed travel and training camps for women.

April seeks to empower and inspire whoever she can and has invested a tremendous amount of time in sports psychology and performance mindset.

Alexa Yanes is a black belt competitor and instructor at Rodrigo Pinheiro BJJ in San Antonio, Texas. She began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 8 years ago. She always loved Jiu Jitsu, but had no idea where it would take her.

Yanes started competing as a white belt for fun, but quickly became more dedicated at blue belt. She travels all over the world to compete, teach, and train. She is a multiple time IBJJF open champion at every belt, World no gi champion, Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Champion Abu Dhabi World Pro Finalist, Pan American Champion, IBJJF Asian Champion and 3x AJP Tour Best North American Player. She has been fortunate enough to make jiu jitsu her life and loves spreading the knowledge of jiu jitsu for her fellow females. Her goal is to show the community it is possible to make a living and how to find opportunity in this sport.

Lyzz Mitrovic has been training martial arts since 2010. She started her journey with Hapkido, receiving her Black Belt in 2013. Wanting to learn more martial arts, she began training BJJ in 2014. She quickly became an avid and tough competitor in BJJ, and after numerous competition accolades, received her Black Belt in 2019 under Dustin Akbari. At black belt she has become an Adult NoGi Pan American, NoGi European, ADCC West Coast Trials, NoGi World Champion, and she achieved becoming a Master 1 World Champion for two consecutive years. You’ll usually find her on the mats at Precision Jiu-Jitsu Academy teaching and training, going for Gold in BJJ competitions, or pursuing her other obsessions of Kombucha and Tabletop Gaming

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 9/1/24 at 11:00 AM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.

Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 10:30 am. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 11:00 am.
