About this Event

Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.

You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

GIG Florida - Debary Guest instructors: Melissa Lohsen & Maria Zamora-Levecque

Maria Zamora-Levecque is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and instructor at Gracie Tampa South in Tampa, Florida, where she leads the academy’s women’s program. A passionate teacher, Maria loves sharing her knowledge and helping women of all experience levels build skills, confidence, and a love for jiu jitsu.
She is dedicated to making jiu jitsu accessible to everyone and creating a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where women feel comfortable learning and challenging themselves. Whether someone is trying jiu jitsu for the first time or looking to advance their competitive game, Maria brings an encouraging, inclusive approach to every class. She is excited to be part of Girls in Gis and share the mats with women from across the jiu jitsu community.

Melissa Lohsen is a 2nd degree black belt teaching out of DarkwolfMMA in Debary Fl where she is a co owner with her husband and coach David Lohsen. She is a huge proponent of women's Jiu Jitsu and founded a Florida based women's open mat Pretty Dangerous inspired by Girls in Gis. She is extremely excited to share her knowledge at Girls in Gis.

COST: $20 Min Donation. All Donations Welcome.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 9/26/26 at 3:00 PM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.

Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 12:30 pm. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 12:00 pm.
