Giles Strong Quartet have been a personal favourite of mine since they performed at our first ever get together last year, and I have been looking forward to having them return ever since. Four of the regions best players who perform expertly and sensitively together. They describe themselves as 'Chamber Jazz', bringing improvisation and interplay together with classical acoustic instruments and aesthetics. A perfect match for the gorgeous architechture and acoustics in our venue - Sunderland Minster. Giles is a widely respected guitarist, educator and composer. During his 25 years of teaching, Giles has worked as a tutor for the BMus degree programme at the Sage Gateshead, and as a peripatetic and private teacher around the region. Giles puts creativity at the centre of his teaching and performance work with the quartet.
"Giles Strong Quartet is one of the region's banker bets. Four experienced musicians, restraint and sensitivity at the heart of their musicianship, the audience hanging on every note, this was 'chamber jazz' at its finest. "
