Experience a powerful dialogue on identity, female beauty, and representation through the lens of two distinct yet interconnected artistic voices.
GILDED: THE NEW ICONS is a stunning two-person exhibition featuring paintings by Alicia Brown and digital works by Elisabeth Trostli. Together, the artists explore themes of identity, female beauty, and representation.
Drawing inspiration from Renaissance, Baroque, and Pre-Raphaelite traditions, Brown and Trostli explore how history, culture, and personal narratives shape the way women are portrayed in art.
While their mediums differ—Brown through oil painting and Trostli through digital collage—their works converge in reimagining contemporary icons of diversity and inclusivity.
Every Saturday in December there will be informative talks about painting and gilding (Brown), and digital painting and AI (Trostli). Brown will give informal talks about her work. Trostli's audio/visual presentations include:
~ Creating Iconic Custom Portraits (Dec. 6 and 13, 3 pm): Created on the computer and painted in Adobe Photoshop and generative AI, using and blending references from the artist’s and client’s personal photos and preferences.
~ Creating Fantasy Icons (Dec. 20 and 27, 3 pm): Originating in the artist’s imagination and illustrated using Adobe Photoshop and generative AI, these works blend the artist’s extensive image libraries to create unique digital paintings.
