Rio's versatility allows him to navigate different sounds and vibes, from trap drums and 808s, to guitar acoustics and melodic piano arrangements. While categorization of today's music serves to put artists in a box, Rio Nilo operates outside of these boundaries. That said, his sound encompasses those of Contemporary R&B, Neo-Soul, Alternative R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap, and even Deep Pop. Nilo draws musical inspiration from the likes of D'Angelo, Musiq Soulchild, Andre3000, Frank Ocean, Lauryn Hill, Marvin Gaye, John Legend, Usher and many others.
