Bonnie & the Mere Mortals, Amy Martin, and Matt Elias are the next generation of artists taking Appalachia to the world stage. While America may use Appalachians as an example of a lack of diversity and new ideas, we know better, and we're bringing the best the hills & hollers have to offer to the world at large. Ghosts of Appalachia is a tour showcasing what's new and transforming Americana. These three artists are taking their upbringing and experiences from throughout Appalachia and bringing them to the places they love. Come dance and cry to new and original bops and sing along to highly imaginative reworked classics from legends like Linda Perry all the way to the Cure. Bringing stories of queerness, love and loss, addiction, escape, and homecoming... with a few murder ballads thrown in for fun, the Ghosts of Appalachia tour promises to be an event you don't want to miss.
Originally from Harrisonburg, Virginia, Amy Martin spent the majority of her adult life in her beloved hometown. On her recently released album, “Travelin’ On”, Martin explores the breaking point between investing in a problematic, yet beloved place, and moving on to fully realize one’s self and one’s dreams.
Bonnie & the Mere Mortals is a Southern gothic outfit from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Paris of Appalachia, that sound like the sonic baby of Dolly Parton and the Cure, and feel like something you've been hearing your whole life.
Matt Elias is an Americana solo artist whose songs are the culmination of years of stories--stories of dedication, love and loss, personal battles with addiction, and life and growth in a crumbling Appalachian coal town.
