All activities take place at Paynetown SRA and are open to both campers and day visitors. Property admission is $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plate ($9 per vehicle with out-of-state license plate).
Activity Center will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, with a different Halloween/fall-themed drop-in craft available each day.

Halloween Sand Candles from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Swimming Beach
DROP BY to design a sand candle with a seasonal flair! You’ll create and decorate your own mold in the sand, which we’ll fill with melted wax. Suggested donation of $2 per candle to help cover the cost of the wax. Participants must pick up their finished candle on Friday between 6 and 7:30 p.m. (Activity Center Amphitheater) or on Saturday between 1 and 5 p.m. (inside the Activity Center).
Mythos and Magic of Plants Hike at 5:00 p.m.
Meet at the Trailhead (just north of Deer Run Shelter)
PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME! Everything has a story… join us for a relaxing hike to explore the fascinating mythology and lore behind some of our common native plants. 1 hour
Spinning a Web at 6:30 p.m.
Activity Center, Amphitheater
PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME! Do spiders really pull silk out of their you-know-whats? Discover the science behind making a web – from how spiders produce the silk to the reasons why different spiders weave different types of webs. At the end of the presentation, you can stick around to create your own spider web design using glue, salt, and watercolors! 1 hour

Candy Corn Catapults from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

DROP BY to build a miniature catapult and test your aim! You’ll get three chances to successfully hit a target with a piece of candy corn to win a prize.
Ghost Trap Challenge from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

DROP BY to test your ghostbusting skills! You’ll get three chances to toss ghosts into traps to earn points… Will you earn your proton pack and become an expert ghostbuster?
Spooky Slime from 1 to 2 p.m.

DROP BY to create a unique batch of spooky slime for Halloween fun!
Creepy, Crawly Crafts from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Activity Center, Shelter
DROP BY to make four different creepy, crawly crafts for Halloween! Children under age 13 should be accompanied by an adult helper (thanks!).
CAMPGROUND CLOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC FROM 5:30 TO 7:30 PM
Trick-or-Treating from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Campground (Electric Loops)
Children (in age and spirit!) are invited to wander the Campground this evening in search of delicious treats! Please be cautious of vehicles on the roads; for safety reasons, at least one adult should accompany each group of children.
Campers are encouraged to support this event by handing out candy at their campsites! If you are participating, please sit in a visible spot near the road.
Campsite Decorating Contest from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
We want to see lots of creative and creepy campsites! Every decorated campsite is automatically entered into the contest.
Each CAMPSITE receives ONE VOTING BALLOT upon check-in for the weekend. Walk the Campground between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, pick your favorite decorated campsite, and turn your ballot in to the Campground Gate by 8 p.m.
Prizes go to the two campsites that receive the most votes, plus a third “staff choice” winner. The winning campsites will be posted at the Campground Gatehouse by 10 a.m. Sunday and on our Facebook Page (facebook.com/monroelake) by 5 p.m. Sunday. Prizes are distributed via mail to the registered name/address listed for each winning campsite.

If a Black Cat… from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

DROP BY to discover the mythology and history that led to black cats being considered “unlucky”– and make a cute black cat magnet to decorate your fridge!
