Ghost Media and Third Eye Hi-Fi are teaming up to present one of the definers of the modern jungle sound: SULLY (Uncertain Hour/Astrophonica)This is the one you have all been waiting for. Known for his viscerally uncompromising productions and unique methods of processing sounds, Sully aka Jack Stevens has branded his mark on the scene from early. Long before the UK garage revival kicked in and “future” garage had even been dreamt up, Sully began finding a space between 2step’s swing, dubstep’s edge and breakstep’s drums, all underpinned by the rude spirit of jungle. He displayed a deft touch for heart-breaking melodies that could touch people as much as the ruff sub bass could hit them, and has transmitted this approach across a range of genres.
Hailing from Norwich, he has released on a number of underground UK labels such as Uncertain Hour, Over/Shadow, Keysound, Astrophonica and Black Acre, continually raising the bar for UK bass music and blending the madcap energy of vintage junglism with a modern ear for haunting sound design. We are delighted to welcome him to Aotearoa for the first time, and have enlisted the mighty Third Eye Hi-Fi in anticipation of his arrival. Prepare for war!
On support, he will be joined by crew DJs from both Third Eye and Ghost Media, setting the scene for an evening of wanton sonic destruction. Not bad for a school night!
