A 2‑hour workshop helping SMEs learn how to access major supply chains and show they’re credible, ready suppliers.
About this Event

This practical and interactive 2‑hour workshop is designed to help SMEs understand how Tier 1, Prime, and government supply chains operate—and what smaller businesses need to put in place to be taken seriously as suppliers. Many capable SMEs miss out on major project opportunities because they don't fully understand procurement expectations, risk requirements, or how supply chain capability is assessed.

The session explains how government procurement priorities flow down through Tier 1 and Prime contractors, why ESG alignment and risk management now play a critical role, and the common gaps that prevent SMEs from progressing beyond initial conversations. Participants will gain clarity on what larger organisations look for beyond price, capability and past performance.

The workshop also includes a guest segment from a Tier 1 alliance representative, offering direct, practical insight into what Tier 1s expect from their Tier 3 and Tier 4 suppliers, and how smaller businesses can better position themselves for major project work.

Key value for attendees:

  • A clear understanding of how Tier 1, Prime and government supply chains operate
  • Insight into what Tier 1 contractors look for in smaller suppliers
  • An understanding of how procurement, ESG and risk expectations flow down supply chains
  • Practical steps SMEs can take to become more credible, attractive and procurement‑ready
  • Guidance on positioning for larger opportunities without relying solely on competitive tenders

This workshop is ideal for SMEs seeking to strengthen their supply chain readiness, improve credibility with larger contractors, and gain access to bigger projects across government and major infrastructure.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Small to medium business owners, managers, and business development professionals who:

  1. Want to supply to Tier 1 contractors, Prime suppliers, or government but don’t know where to start
  2. Are currently subcontracting and want to access larger or more consistent opportunities
  3. Have tried to engage with government or Tier 1 buyers and struggled to gain traction
  4. Want to strengthen their business to meet increasing compliance, ESG, and procurement expectations

Tier 1 and government supply chains rely on a far broader mix of suppliers than many SMEs realise—spanning trades, construction, professional services, technical fields, digital services, support services, catering, events, and much more.
This workshop helps businesses recognise that these opportunities apply far beyond “traditional” government suppliers.
