About this Event
Join artist and arts professor Justin Tyler Bryant as he walks creatives through the art of finding and getting a residency in any arts genre. Bryant, who is a facilitator with Mid-America Arts Alliance and the Arkansas Arts Council, will lead creatives through goal setting, positioning their careers for residencies and boosting their own chances for getting their dream opportunities.
Participants in this workshop will learn what residencies will fit their needs, red flags to notice when researching residencies, ways to improve applications and more.
Seating is limited, so registration is required. Refreshments will be provided.
Justin Tyler Bryant is a visual artist, educator and creative innovator. He was a 2019 Interchange Artist Fellow, was featured in Delta Voices by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and is a facilitator with Mid-America Arts Alliance. He received his BFA in Studio Art from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2012 and his MFA in Studio Art from Louisiana State University in 2018 and was a participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (17′). Bryant currently teaches at Philander Smith University in Little Rock and was previously a full-time instructor at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College. In Bryant’s work, he has used found objects, painting, drawing, and video to suggest a fugitive notion of Blackness. His recent work investigates the past and present imagery of Africa-Americans to reflect a multi-contextual narrative of poetry, personal narrative and history.
