About this Event

In this hands-on workshop, Chicago improv veteran Jimmy Carrane uses story-based improv games to help writers access flow, trust their instincts, and discover where their stories actually want to go. You'll leave with a looser grip on your inner critic and a clearer sense of what your writing wants to be.

No improv experience necessary. This isn't about being funny. It's about getting out of your own way.

Jimmy Carrane has been teaching improv in Chicago for over 30 years. The founder of Slow Improv and host of the critically acclaimed podcast Improv Nerd, he has taught everyone from beginners to Fortune 500 employees and written three books on the subject. You may know him from The Bear, Shining Girls, Chicago PD, Natural Born Killers, The Untouchables, and more.

This workshop takes place at Beach Glass Writers Residency, an intimate creative sanctuary in Rogers Park, Chicago, steps from Lake Michigan. Limited to 12 participants.
