Get Lost Series: Bikepacking Kyrgyzstan | The Tian Shan Traverse

Our "Get Lost Series" is returning the first Thursday of each month from September to March! Join us at 6:00 PM for a touring presentation delivered by the rider(s) themselves! These feature a Q&A session, plenty opportunity for mingling and refreshments provided.
The Tian Shan Traverse is a bikepacking route across Kyrgyzstan, starting in the capital Bishkek and crossing a remarkably varied landscape from desert and grasslands to alpine passes and high plateaus above 12,600 feet, with snow-covered peaks, turquoise rivers, and alpine lakes along the way. Richmond local Shannon Orcutt rode 514 miles over 17 days with two friends on gravel roads with boggy sections, rocky hike-a-bikes, and stretches where the trail simply disappeared. Shannon will share what it was like to travel through this remote and physically demanding landscape, riding among free-ranging horses, camping with some of the best sunsets she’s ever seen, and staying a few nights in traditional yurts along the way.
