Male Idiot Theory (be)
The Male Idiot Theory (MIT) is a two-piece punk and garage band from Tournai, Belgium, featuring members of VISION 3D and Thee Marvin Gays. They play a driving, mechanical mix of "egg punk" and progressive rock, highlighted by drum-computer beats and angular guitars.
The band’s sound is defined by frantic, relentless drum programming and guitars full of jagged, energetic melodies. Their recordings feature distorted, shouty vocals alongside maniacal tempos and off-kilter mechanical rhythms that deliver a raw, fast-paced punch. Fans of garage punk and lo-fi alternative scenes will hear strong structural hooks and high-energy dynamics in tracks like "Rainy Sunday" and "Not Reliable".
The Clubs (de)
The Clubs are an underground power-pop and rock-and-roll band based in Berlin. The band features Roméo (from Les Lullies/Patrol) alongside members of Slander Tongue and Klavo. Their sound uniquely blends late '70s and early '80s power pop with straight-up rock and a touch of '60s jangle. The tunes carry strong, quality hooks and muscular rhythm. Their debut self-titled EP was released via No Fuss Tapes, with vinyl pressings from Bachelor Records.
How about a new band to get excited about for 2026? The Clubs are based in Berlin. The band includes Roméo from Les Lullies/Patrol along with members of Slander Tongue and Klavo. A self-titled debut EP is out now No Fuss Tapes with vinyl coming from Bachelor Records. Basically what we have here is late '70s/early '80s style power pop meets straight-up rock 'n' roll with a touch of '60s jangle. What's not to like about that? These tunes have got quality hooks and a lot of muscle behind them. The production is just about perfect: clean but not excessively polished. I dig this EP, and I'm sure a lot of you will as well. Something tells me we'll be hearing a lot more about The Clubs over the coming months!
