About this Event

Hearken, ye seekers of wisdom and wonder! There be dragons in this land! From ancient myths and legends to the modern tales in books, movies, and TV shows, dragons have sparked the imagination of countless generations. On this night, we raise our chalices to these beautiful, mythical creatures.

  • Compete to be crowned master of the dragons in a game of Dragon Trivia!
  • Meet Andrew Wheeler, author of , as he demonstrates how to make a cocktail from his book. Books will be available for purchase.
  • Go shopping at Bucket O' Blood Books and Records, the home of amazing sci-fi, fantasy, and horror books.
  • Learn a new dragon-inspired tabletop role-playing game with Rough Magic Games.
  • See props used in dragon films from our friends at the Horror and SciFi Prop Preservation Society.
  • Experience our special exhibit, , which explores how Americans use role-playing and video games to define and respond to our culture. (And includes dragons).
  • Enjoy beer, wine, and the night’s specialty cocktail, The Dragon Scale, a delicious pineapple-coconut cocktail. Non-alcoholic options available as well.

Whether you're a lifelong dragon enthusiast or new to the fantastical realm of these mythical beasts, Get Lit: Rise of the Dragons will be an absolute blast!

is a quirky shop for sci-fi, fantasy, horror & other books, plus indie rock, punk & metal records. Established in 2010, they sell both new and used books, with a wide range of vintage science fiction and fantasy paperbacks and a large selection of new books from independent horror publishers.

(The HSPPA) is a not-for-profit traveling museum of screen-used and production-made props, costumes, and film relics that focus on the Horror & Science Fiction genres. The HSPPA champions the collection and preservation of some of the most incredible screen-used props in filmic history, bringing them out from behind closed doors for the fans to experience up close; promoting prop conservation so these artifacts can be enjoyed for generations to come.

In 2019, was founded with one mission: to help those who wanted to play tabletop role-playing games but lacked the time to take on the role of a Game Master.  Co-founders, Richard Costes and Christian Stokes, brought their considerable experience in the entertainment industry together, creating a company that would offer a wide-variety of in-person/online game options: learn-to-play sessions, long-term campaigns, one-shots for parties, and more. Today Rough Magic’s team is thrilled to help players of all experience levels and from all over the country collaboratively create thrilling adventures and forge unique bonds of friendship that will last for a lifetime.



Get Lit is your way to enjoy evenings in the Loop. Meet friends and fellow book nerds for an early evening treat. Each month, the AWM serves drinks, games, special experiences, and fun activities to get you lit! Funds raised at this event will go towards the AWM’s Write In Youth Education Program, which serves middle and high school students from under-resourced schools. .

Buy your tickets today! A limited number of tickets are available at the door. AWM members, use the access code emailed to you to reveal the member ticket price. Tickets include admission to the museum and drink tickets for two complimentary beverages. Additional drink tickets are available for purchase. Guests must be 21+ to attend Get Lit and show a valid ID at the door.
