MAKE IT FUNKY & PROPER PARTY brings a heavyweight night of Breaks, Bass, House and Drum & Bass to Wiggle Room, headlined by legendary New Zealand breakbeat pioneer FreQ Nasty, with the long-awaited return of Toronto breakbeat originals Big League Chu & Dave Saddler behind the decks together for the first time in years.
Born in Fiji, raised in New Zealand and shaped by London’s late-'90s dance music revolution, FreQ Nasty is a pioneer of the global breakbeat and bass music scene. From his early releases on Botchit & Scarper and SKINT/Sony to collaborations with Santigold, Switch, Fatboy Slim, Roots Manuva, KRS-One, Kelis and Rodney P, FreQ has spent decades pushing bass-heavy electronic music forward.
A longtime favourite of the Burning Man community and former resident at London's legendary Fabric, FreQ Nasty is known for deep grooves, heavy bass and high-energy dancefloor sets.
Joining him are two of Toronto’s original breakbeat pioneers, Big League Chu & Dave Saddler, reunited behind the decks for a rare appearance together.
Rounding out the night is a stacked crew of Toronto selectors bringing their own flavours to the dancefloor:
Farbsie Funk — funky breaks & bassy house
Red Turtle — drum & bass
DJ Tanner — all-vinyl 45 funk edits
Kid Funky J — classic house & breaks
