James Oglethorpe, Father of Georgia:
A Founder’s Journey from Slave Trader to
Abolitionist
Join us for an evening with Michael Thurmond,
author, historian, and DeKalb County CEO. This
engaging lecture will highlight the founding of the
Georgia colony under the leadership of General
James Edward Oglethorpe and will examine
Oglethorpe’s philosophical and moral evolution
from slave trader to abolitionist.
The program will be held on Thursday, November 14, at Christ Church Episcopal, 28 Bull Street, in Savannah. It will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Free and open to the public. A book signing will
follow the lecture.
