George Porter Jr. is best known as the bassist of The Meters, along with Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli and Joseph Zigaboo Modeliste. The group was formed in the mid 60's and came to be recognized as one of the progenitors of funk then called R&B. The Meters disbanded in 1977 and reformed in 1989. Porter has his own project the Runnin' Pardners with well known New Orleans artists Brint Anderson (guitar), Michael Lemmler (keyboards) and rising stars on music scene Khris Royal (saxophone) and Terrence Houston (drums). Join us in the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens to hear his new sensational album. Porter has proven to be capable of the ultimate fusion of rock, funk, and R&B and is recognized as one of the industry's elite bass players.
The Miami Beach Botanical Gardens an intimate 3 acre tropical garden on a very big mission as a sustainable urban oasis in the middle of the glitz and neon of South Beach. The Gardens features an array of cultural arts, interesting pop up shops, delicious local chef tastings of health conscious bites, vegan, desserts, and outrageous burgers and other grilled selections. The venue allows guests to bring their own blankets and spread out among the luscious jungle grounds to listen to music under the stars in these Gardens after Dark. During the concert guests can peruse the spectacular grounds and smell the botanicals, be careful not to get lost in the breathtaking jungles.
Guests should arrive early when doors open at 6pm as we will be featuring industry mixologists from a selection of the luxury categories of Vodka, Tequila, and Bourbon highlighting delicious cocktails that will pair with the tastings prepared by local ethnic chefs. These nights will not be another funky thrilling show with George Porter Jr. but will be a one of kind concert experience that will resonate fond memories from years to come. Look forward to seeing everyone.
