George Kahumoku Jr. Pono Hawaiian Grill, Saturday August 23, 1:00 - 3:00pm

George Kahumoku is a master slack key guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer, celebrated for his role in preserving and advancing Hawaiian music. He has won multiple Grammy Awards and Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for his work, particularly through his acclaimed weekly Slack Key Show on Maui, which has produced four Grammy-winning CDs. With over 25 solo, collaborative, and compilation albums, he is a central figure in the Hawaiian music scene.

Beyond performance, George is a dedicated educator and cultural practitioner. He founded the Hawaiian Music Institute at the University of Hawai‘i-Maui College to ensure the legacy of Hawaiian music and prepare future generations for careers in music. He also hosts the annual Maui Slack Key Guitar and ʻUkulele Workshop, a major event for musicians and students from around the world that embodies his philosophy of sharing and perpetuating Hawaiian culture.
