Madeline Saputra (sopraan) & Apollon Kalamenios (piano)
“Keroncong Anemoia”
A concert exploring the intersections of traditional Indonesian ‘keroncong’ (a musical form that embodies Indonesia’s indigenous cultural history and important Western influences) and Western art songs. Universal themes such as nature-labor, love-memory and war-change resonate in both folk and classical traditions. You will hear music by composers such as Ismail Marzuki, Trisutji Kamal, Aaron Copland and Kaija Saariaho, but also by Mozart, Schubert and Hugo Wolf. And keroncong is not keroncong without violin and ukulele!
****
Olga van Tongeren (mezzosopraan) & Maria Marecos (piano)
“Reizende Melodieën”
In the concert ‘Traveling Melodies’ mezzo-soprano Olga van Tongeren and pianist Maria Marecos take the listener on a journey where love comes and goes like the wind: it entices, connects, enriches, causes sorrow and disappears in the waves of the sea. With music by Samuel Barber, Rebecca Clarke, Hugo Wolf, Felix Mendelssohn, Gabriel Fauré, Henri Duparc, Gioacchino Rossini, Nikolai Medtner and Alexandre Rey Colaço.
