About this Event
Gentrification, Housing & Health in New Haven: A Research to Action Event
Join us for a conversation about how neighborhood change and housing in New Haven impacts community health and well-being. Together, we’ll explore solutions, share ideas, and take action to build a healthier, more equitable future for all.
This event will be moderated by Jennifer Quaye-Hudson, founder of Qatapult Strategies, a movement consulting firm dedicated to inspiring movement practitioners to continue to lead from a place of imagination. In the “Research” portion of the event, Dr. Shannon Whittaker will present key findings from a recent study on gentrification and its impact on the health and well-being of Black residents in New Haven, CT, shedding light on the complex intersections between urban development and community well-being.
In the "Action" portion of the event, we will engage in conversation with Johnny Shively (Elm City Communities), Kayla Giordano (Partnerships for Strong Communities), and others to discuss actionable steps, current housing initiatives, and collaborative strategies for addressing ongoing challenges in housing and displacement, with a particular focus on supporting vulnerable populations.
