A 9 week course suitable for absolute beginners through to more experienced yoginis, at any stage of their pregnancy. Courses run by the school term
Term 4 2025 dates: Oct 8th - 3rd Dec
Wednesday nights 6.30pm - 8.15pm
COST: $285 for 9 weeks
WHAT TO EXPECT:
MOVEMENT: a blend of gentle warm ups, stretches, strengtheners and flows that help you feel capable and comfortable in your changing body and connect with/make space for bubs.
BREATH: harness your energy through breath and awareness. There is no surefire, one-size-fits-all breathing “technique” for labour, but through becoming intimate with your own breath, you will find that you have an incredible anchor and ally in your birthing journey.
VISUALISATION + VOCALISATION: learn powerful yoga-based tools to help you stay focused, stay positive and work with intensity in labour.
RELAXATION: embrace the power of deep rest. Plus discover comfortable, supported positions in which to practice your extremely important nana naps!
MINDFULNESS: 'letting go of expectations about how things should be and instead becoming open to fully experiencing what actually is' - sounds simple but takes practice too. This is a cornerstone of contemplative practices and can become a vital tool during pregnancy and labour as we surrender to what is unfolding.
COMMUNITY: We take time each week to check in with each other and share how we are travelling. There is never any pressure to speak or share, however this is an amazing opportunity to be heard in a safe and non-judgmental space as you navigate the ups and downs of your pregnancy journey.
BIRTHING WISDOM: Kate from Matriyoga has carried and birthed 3 children herself, immersed herself in the birthing world for many years through teaching prenatal yoga in East Gippsland, Melbourne and Geelong and more recently studied to become a doula with Rhea Dempsey (author of 'Birth with Confidence'). She weaves all this experience into her classes in the hopes of empowering students into discovering and trusting THEIR own innate birthing wisdom, and using this as a compass to guide them through their journey no matter where or how they choose to give birth.
