Repeal the anti-protest laws
Stop war criminal Isaac Herzog visiting Australia
Sanction Israel now
NSW Premier Chris Minns, antisemitism envoy Jillian Segal and countless others have wrongly blamed the Palestine movement for the antisemitic attack at Bondi.
This is a lie, an act of shameful political scapegoating and an attempt to silence criticism of Israel’s genocide. The movement for Palestinian liberation has nothing to do with antisemitism.
The NSW government has just extended the timeframe for restrictions on protest. This comes after new repressive anti-protest laws, designed to ban protest marches and give NSW Police broader powers to stifle Palestine demonstrations, were rushed through NSW parliament in December.
However, static protests are still legal. Being at a protest is no grounds for police to give a “move-on” order to any individual.
Protests for Palestine can and must continue as Israel is still starving Gaza and preventing aid from entering the region. It has killed over 400 Palestinians in attacks since the start of the so-called “ceasefire” last October.
Despite this, PM Anthony Albanese has invited the Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who has overseen the genocide in Gaza, to visit Australia. His visit is imminent.
Herzog has been named by the International Court of Justice for showing genocidal intent for his statement that there are “no innocent civilians in Gaza”.
The Australian government must not roll out the red carpet for a war criminal as Albanese and Minns are doing. Rather it must impose wide-reaching sanctions on Israel.
It is more urgent than ever that the 300,000 people who marched across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in August, and the hundreds of thousands of others who support peace and justice for Palestine, ramp up our protests for sanctions and reject the lie that opposing occupation and genocide is in any way related to antisemitism.
