Quebec folk-pop singer-songwriter Geneviève Racette and Calgary R&B-fusion songstress Kate Stevens join forces at the legendary King Eddy on November 6.
About Geneviève Racette:
Geneviève Racette is a bilingual folk-pop singer-songwriter from Dorval, Quebec, celebrated for her heartfelt storytelling and warm, ethereal voice. Singing in both French and English, she has carved out a space at the crossroads of folk, pop, and Americana, captivating audiences with intimate, emotional performances.
Racette released her debut EP in 2014, followed by Les aurores boréales (2016) and Covers (2017). Her breakthrough came with No Water, No Flowers (2019), her first English-language album, which earned her the Canadian Folk Music Award for Emerging Artist of the Year and led to performances at major festivals including Osheaga. In 2022 she unveiled Satellite, praised by outlets such as Rolling Stone, CBC, and Exclaim!, and featuring a duet with Dallas Green of City and Colour.
Her most recent record, Golden (2024), is her most personal to date, exploring themes of sobriety, friendship, self-love, and resilience. The album debuted at #3 on the Folk Alliance International charts, with its track “The Reasons (I’ll Be Alright)” featured in the TV series Heartland.
With a growing presence across Canada and the U.S., Racette continues to shine as one of today’s most compelling contemporary folk voices.
About Kate Stevens:
Kate Stevens is a Calgary-born singer, songwriter, and storyteller with a voice that feels both timeless and brand new. Drawing from her love of early R&B and weaving in funk, rock, and soul, Kate creates music that’s heartfelt, groovy, and unmistakably her own. Her songs invite listeners into the snapshots of her life; moments of heartbreak, friendship, and the kind of love that lingers.
Along the way, Kate has earned recognition with multiple songwriting awards (including seven YYC Music Awards), performed on stages from the Calgary Folk Music Festival to the Bella Concert Hall, and shared bills with artists like Leon Bridges and Jim Cuddy.
Beyond the stage, Kate champions local music as the host of The Upload on CKUA Radio, where she spotlights emerging voices and helps shape Alberta’s vibrant music scene.
