A Raisin In the Sun is Lorraine Hansberry's ground-breaking, TONY and Emmy award-winning play about a Black family navigating life on the Southside of Chicago, during a time when our nation was grappling with segregation, housing discrimination, and classism amongst the races. Premiering and set in 1959, the play painted an unprecedented portrait of a family’s struggle to retain dignity in a harsh and rapidly changing world.
