The Mason Area Historical Society and Generations Community Theater have teamed up again this year to bring live community theater back to Mason. This year, Generations is doing a “double-header” radio play performance. The first play is adapted from a 1940s British production “Sherlock Holmes and the Night Before Christmas” which will be followed by another British-derived radio play version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Performances are in the 90-seat Virginia Schlichter Auditorium at the Mason Area Historical Museum, 200 E. Oak Street in downtown Mason. Admission at the door is a donation of $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for kids for the two back-to-back plays at one price. You have your choice of three performance dates: Friday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m., or Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m.
This Generations Community Theater’s production is a fundraiser to support the upkeep of the Mason Area Historical Museum. They did similar productions to aid the Mason Area Historical Society in 2018 and 2019. After COVID, they returned last year in 2022 to present “A Christmas Carol 1944 Radio Play.” Many area residents may also fondly remember the Mason Coventry Players, who last performed at the Museum back in 2004.
The Museum will be open an hour prior for visitors. Auditorium doors open about fifteen minutes before each performance. There will be one short intermission, but patrons may also exit and re-enter quietly at any time.
