About this Event
In a world of endless distraction, division, and isolation, Generational [Dis]connect invites the listener to seek respite in an immersive, and at times cacophonous collection of the sounds of computing and internet past, harkening back to when one literally had to hang up the phone in order to gain access. The duo features purely digital and acoustic elements, and seeks to explore the temperamental balance of the organic and inorganic in modern society as well as within the conception of self. The set resides conflictingly between nostalgia for ancient digital footprints and our fleeting desire to emerge from the noise unscathed.
David Austin - computer
Steph Clement - trumpet, fx
NYC-native Declan Sheehy-Moss defies genres as a saxophonist and composer. Blending sounds in his Brooklyn studio, he fuses digital production with analog instruments. After studying jazz performance at the New England Conservatory, he finished his degree at SUNY Purchase. Since 2017 he has collaborated widely, from Pulitzer Prize winner Henry Threadgill to emerging talents like Cisco Swank, Talia Goddess, and more. Co-leading "More Better," they recently released their sophomore and live albums. Performances at BAM, The Jazz Gallery, and Newport/Monterey Jazz Fests highlight the dynamic musicality of his music. He's also a musical assistant to Henry Threadgill, managing logistics and multimedia elements. For updates, visit declansounds.com and follow him on Instagram (@declansounds).
