Authors Stephen X. Sylvester, Steven Bingen and Richard Adkins provide an in-depth look inside the walls of Hollywood's most glorious studio: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
Beginning in 1924, M-G-M would have a long-lasting effect on film history with its unique combination of three considerable studios: Metro Pictures, the company founded by the Loew's theatre chain to provide a ready supply for their theatres, the Goldwyn Company, a large studio complex with an impressive roster of performers, and Louis B. Mayer Productions, a downtown Los Angeles studio with an equally impressive roster of well-known directors.
M-G-M adhered to Sam Goldwyn's advice to "Do it right, do it big, and give it class!" The studios dedication to high quality films allowed it to be the only studio "in the black" during the worst years of The Great Depression of the 1930s. To create those great films took a vast physical plant and M-G-M's two backlots were legendary. Not necessarily the largest, but certainly the most used and the best remembered.

Join us for an evening with the authors as we celebrate this 100-year milestone.
