Gender Equality Workshop Training

To support and address obligations of health services under the Gender Equality Act, objectives of the workshop series aim to increase staff knowledge on the key activities of the Gender Equality Act, and increase skills and confidence in practically applying and leading processes across their own organisations, including the development of upcoming Gender Equality Action Plans.

The sessions will be facilitated by Women's Health Goulburn North East and Equality Institute, specialist organisations with expertise in gender equality, intersectionality and systems change.

When: Tuesday 25th November and Wednesday 26th November

Where: The Margaret Boyd Education Centre, Conference Room - Northeast Health, Wangaratta. 35-47 Green Street, Wangaratta, VIC, 3677

Day 1 - Intended learning outcomes:

• Understand why gender inequality is a problem and the importance of having a 'gender lens'
• Understand why an intersectional approach is important and how to adopt one
• Understand your obligations under the Gender Equality Act
• Understand and apply the steps to conducting a gender impact assessment

Day 2 - Intended learning outcomes:

• Increase individual knowledge and understanding of Gender Equality Act obligations, including reporting cycle and compliance requirements of defined entities
• Increase confidence in applying a gender lens to their own People and Culture role, responsibilities and organisational processes
• Increase awareness of techniques to support internal organisational cohesion for a systematic approach to gender equality
• Increase awareness of regional-level supports and structures available to facilitate ongoing implementation, including existing tools and templates from other health services

Please note:

As discussed in the recent working group meeting, there may be a cost per organisation to attend the training. This is still being finalised and will be confirmed at a later date. We are proceeding with registrations now to support planning and ensure organisations can secure their spot.
