Explore the exciting process of Gelli printing on this taster session.Printing from gelatine plates is a type of monoprinting which is instant and effective without the need for a press. Using water based inks you will explore a range of different effects from bold colourful textures to more subtle colours and patterns. You will be encouraged to overprint layers and build up interesting compositions. Gelatine plates are easy to make and print from at home and you will also be given instructions on how to make the plates so you can carry on using the skills you’ve learned.
What experience do I need?
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. Monoprinting from gelatine plates is a fun and easy way to introduce you to some printmaking techniques. Those with previous experience may wish to use the session to develop their skills or gain tutor advice and guidance.
What will I make?
You will come away from the workshop with a wide range of different monoprints from the gelatine plates printed on A4 cartridge paper.

Accessibility
Our aim is to bring printmaking to as many people as possible. By their nature, some printmaking processes involve an amount of physical effort. Leeds Print Workshop is based in a basement studio at Patrick Studios, a bespoke venue for artists operated by East Street Arts. It is wheelchair accessible, with a lift, larger than standard doors and accessible toilet facilities. We recognise that everybody’s accessibility needs may differ, therefore please email us at [email protected] to discuss any concerns you may have before booking. There is one blue badge car parking space to the side of the building on Rider Street, subject to availability.
Please note: we regret that, for safety reasons, only those over the age of 16 will be permitted to undertake the course.
