After recent release of debut album “Lost Suite“ and highlighted performance in the St. Ann’s Church, Dublin in the beginning of April. Gediminas Karkauskas trio will appear at Vintage Room, The Workman’s Club, Dublin 26th of June at 7:30 pm. This time Gediminas will team up with the double bass player Cormac O’Brien and guitarist Lee Meehan to bring us on a musical journey where we can witness creativity as it unfolds - that of course is the true beauty of the Jazz experience - an experience where improvisation creates an intimate musical conversation between the artists and enfolds the listener to be part of that experience.
Gediminas Karkauskas ( piano )
One of the finest piano players & exceptional composer with years of performing, recording experience in Ireland and Internationally. Gediminas is active in both fields of classical and jazz music and worked with some of the leading Irish and International musicians such as Louise Stewart, Dr. Linley Hamilton and many more. Just recently on the 16th of October 2020 Gediminas Karkauskas has released his debut album “Lost Suite” It has been noticed by many music critics over Europe and the United States. Widely air played around the world. 15 weeks in US Jazzweek Airplay Charts.
Cormac O’Brien ( double bass )
Cormac O’Brien is one of Dublin’s most prominent double bass players and he has performed and recorded with many of Ireland’s finest musicians, such as Louis Stewart, Tommy Halferty, Michael Buckley, Hugh Buckley, The Kai Big Band, The Zoid Ensemble, Lunfardia, Yurodny, Jack L and Mary Coughlan. He has also played with a range of international artists such as Bobby Watson, Jamie Baum, Dave Allen, Ryan Quigley, Bjorn Vidar Solli, and Bruce Adams.
Lee Meehan( guitar )
Lee is best known on the Irish music circuit for being a blues and jazz guitarist and singer playing with the likes of the late Noel Bridgeman (Smokehouse Blues) Don Baker, The 9Bars (9bar Blues Band) Gotcha!, The Business, Rob Strong, Damien Dempsey, Mik Pyro (Republic Of Loose)Now plays with established Irish jazz musicians regularly as a sideman such as Hugh Buckley, Darren Beckett, Sean Maynard Smith, Richard Nelson Quintet and many more. Currently recording his own debut album and has put his first jazz band together as a band leader. Lee still has a huge love for the blues and plays both genres’ regularly on the Irish circuit in clubs all over.
