In-Person Outing!
Sunday, June 16, 2024

Emily Dale, a historical archaeologist at Northern Arizona University, is running an archaeological field school at Apex, Arizona, a 1928-1936 logging camp along the Grand Canyon Railway, in collaboration with the Kaibab National Forest. A large part of their mission is public engagement and community outreach. To that end, they are inviting members of the community on tours of their project!
The Grand Canyon Historical Society Outings Committee has coordinated with Emily to host site tours in June 2024
Up to 15 GCHS Members will have the unique opportunity to learn about the history of Apex and the Grand Canyon Railway, get up close and personal with excavation, survey, and artifact analysis, and learn about the importance of Arizona’s historical archaeology.
Grand Canyon Historical Society members planning to attend this tour should sign up at least one week before the event date by emailing:
[email protected]
The first 15 people to register for each day's event will be sent more details.
This event is for GCHS Members who can bring one friend.
Grand Canyon Historical Society thanks you for your continued support!
