Welcome back to the GAZE x Outhouse: Queer Film Club! Our next screening takes us into the world of Ballroom. We'll be screening I'm Your Venus (2024), the acclaimed documentary revisiting the legacy and impact of Venus Xtravaganza, whose story became known around the world through the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning.
A moving and timely documentary following the unsolved M**der of Venus Xtravaganza, star of the legendary film Paris Is Burning, as Venus' two families - biological and ballroom - come together to seek answers and celebrate her legacy.
After the screening, Pepe 007, Old Way voguer, host of Irish Ballroom Sessions, and PhD candidate at DCU, will chair a conversation with members of the Irish & European Ballroom communities. They will reflect on the cultural heritage of Ballroom and its contemporary scenes.
Come along for a film, a conversation, and an opportunity to learn more about an underground culture that has given generations of QTPOC space to express themselves and find community.
