About this Event
After two years of war, Gaza is not just a humanitarian catastrophe - it is the systematic destruction of a people.
According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health (MoH), more than 67,000 people have been killed, including over 20,000 children. The toll is likely far higher, with many more thought to be trapped under the rubble.
The recently announced ceasefire brings a welcome moment of relief but does not mark the end of this horrendous suffering. The medical humanitarian needs after two years of war are enormous. An immediate massive and sustained scale-up of aid into and across the Strip is needed.
MSF has been working on the ground in Gaza for years throughout war and ceasefires. Our medical teams continue to offer medical assistance including surgical support, wound care, physiotherapy, malnutrition care, maternity and paediatric care, general healthcare and more in deeply challenging conditions. Even though health facilities have a protected status, hospitals have been bombed and medical facilities have been raided, endangering the lives of staff and patients.
Join us in Dublin on November 5 to hear the experiences of two doctors who lived and worked through the war in Gaza before arriving to Ireland, plus an MSF Emergency Coordinator.
Speakers:
· Dr. Mohammed Abu Mughessib, former Deputy Medical Coordinator for MSF in Gaza.
· Dr. Safi Sohaib, former Deputy Project Medical Referent for MSF in Gaza.
· Claire San Filippo, former Emergency Coordinator for MSF in Gaza.
