Join us Sunday July 7 at Ventura’s Ecological Preserve for Church of the Wild, with wild herons, egrets, pelicans and ducks as the choir! We're in for a real treat! Any birders who come, please help us identify birds, bring books and binoculars.This twenty acre site of scenic ponds, is habitat for over two hundred different species of birds. The ponds are fed from the adjacent water reclamation facility and exits into the Santa Clara River estuary. This reclamation facility processes some seven to nine million gallons of water each day, of which approximately 540,000 thousand gallons are used to irrigate the local golf course and areas surrounding Ventura Harbor. The balance is fed into this ecological reserve.

Access: Free streetside parking is available at the reserve trailhead on Angler Court. Note: The gate doesn’t look open but it is, one of our best kept secrets here in Ventura!
Important: The dirt paths are mostly flat, so this is an especially good opportunity for less mobile participants. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on, a hat, water and comfortable shoes.
