Gather: Creative Gatherings for Caregivers

Join us for the next session of the Scroll of Medical Entanglements, a collaborative art project exploring the paperwork, pathways, detours, barriers, and unexpected connections that shape our caregiving lives.
At our first gathering, caregivers began mapping the referrals, diagnoses, waiting lists, approvals, denials, phone calls, crises, victories, and acts of persistence that often unfold behind the scenes of care. The result is a growing visual record of experiences that are deeply personal and surprisingly shared.
Now we’re adding to the scroll.
Whether you've joined us before or are curious about participating for the first time, there’s a place for you. No artistic experience is necessary. Draw, write, annotate, tell a story, or simply spend time with others who understand that a single piece of paperwork can become a recurring character in a family’s life story.
Gather is a collaboration between Fierce Mamas and ShapeShifter Art School & Gallery, creating space for caregivers to explore the stories, objects, and experiences that caregiving leaves behind. Together, we share a belief that creativity can help make visible experiences that are often difficult to name, explain, or understand.

Working individually and collaboratively, participants will explore caregiving through a variety of creative processes. Some gatherings may incorporate drawing, writing, collage, textiles, sculpture, or found objects. Others may begin with stories, conversations, questions, or the artifacts that accumulate around care. Together, we'll investigate how personal experiences become collective narratives and how creativity can help us better understand the systems, relationships, and responsibilities that shape our lives.
