About this Event

*Tour starts at the Gaslamp Arch, near the Starbucks Coffee shop at 209 5th Avenue

Visit 3 very different markets every Saturday morning in Downtown San Diego. This is one of my favorite things to do as a local!

The Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter is one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Diego, located in the heart of today's modern downtown. We'll begin the tour with a brief history talk about California and San Diego and walk through this historic area to learn about it's beginnings as a rival to "Old Town" due to its prime location near the bay.

We'll talk about early pioneers like William Heath Davis and Alonzo Horton who's vision helped shape the future of America's finest city. Our main focus will be on 5th avenue with its beautifully restored Victorian buildings.

As we are walking through the Gaslamp Quarter the Gaslamp Artisan Market will be taking place. This happens every Saturday and Sunday and it's a perfect time to view the buildings because the traffic is blocked off and the street is for pedestrians only.

For those who aren't as interested in history or architecture, the street market offers plenty to look at.

Seaport Village and Tuna Harbor Dockside Market

After the Gaslamp we will continue our walk through Seaport Village to the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, where the public can purchase fresh caught seafood direct from local fishermen. This market is located on a fishing pier. It's only open on Saturdays from 8am-3pm.

Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market

We'll pass by the USS Midway Museum and the Maritime Museum of San Diego before we enter the Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market. This is another market where the traffic is blocked off and the street is for pedestrians only. You can enjoy a coffee, gelato, slice of pizza, or anything else that catches your eye at this amazing food market. This is my favorite outdoor market in all of San Diego!
