Mad Folk is honored to present Garnet Rogers, one of the most compelling voices in North American folk music, on what will be his final U.S. tour.
Rogers’ musical journey began early. As a child, he and his older brother Stan Rogers lay in their beds listening to the Grand Ole Opry broadcasts on the radio, practicing harmonies late into the night. Within a few years, Garnet was teaching himself instruments including flute, violin, and guitar. Barely out of high school, he joined Stan on the road, and together they formed what would become one of the most influential acts in North American folk music.
In the decades since, Garnet Rogers has established himself as a singular artist and storyteller. Hailed by the Boston Globe as a “charismatic performer and singer,” Rogers is known for his commanding stage presence—standing nearly six and a half feet tall—with a voice to match. His “smooth, dark baritone” (Washington Post), wide vocal range, and dramatic phrasing have made him one of the most respected singers in folk music.
