About this Event
🧵 Workshop Overview
Do you have a garment you absolutely love and wish you could recreate in different fabrics or colors?
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to extract a pattern from an existing garment and create a reusable sewing pattern—while keeping your original piece fully intact and wearable.
This is Part 1 of the garment replication process, focused entirely on pattern extraction and pattern making.
You will:
- Learn how to analyze garment construction
- Extract a pattern from your existing piece
- Create a clean, reusable paper pattern
- Understand how to adjust length or basic fit
- Prepare your pattern to recreate the design in multiple fabrics
No cutting or taking apart your garment required! ✨
👗 What to Bring
Bring one garment you’d like to replicate.
For best results, your garment should be:
✔ Unlined
✔ Simple design
✔ Non–form-fitted silhouette
Great options include:
- Pants
- Skirts
- Simple dresses (A-line or straight silhouette)
- Blouses
- Simple jackets
Please avoid (for the first replication project):
- Lined garments
- Very fitted silhouettes
- Multi-layered or heavily draped designs
If you’re unsure whether your garment is suitable, feel free to reach out before registering.
🎯 What You’ll Leave With
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have:
- A completed paper pattern of your garment
- The knowledge to recreate it in new fabrics
- The ability to adjust length and minor fit details
