About this Event
This is a three week, one evening a week, course designed for the complete novice, new to sewing. This evening course is the same as the 6 week Garment Construction Techniques course but it has been broken down into four, three week evening sessions.
Starting at the very beginning of your sewing journey, this valuable course will cover all sewing machine basics, including how to thread the sewing machine, learning about the various stitches and their uses and general care and maintenance of the machine.
You will create a range of stitching samples to help boost your confidence with using a sewing machine, then move onto small projects to enhance your skills further. The projects include collars, waistbands, pockets and how to set in sleeves, with techniques for ladieswear and menswear being taught.
Part 3
How to insert a one piece sleeve into a basic shirt block. How to construct and insert a two piece tailored sleeve. You will also learn how to construct and insert a raglan sleeve
The final session will be spent working on shirt plackets, a stand collar and a two piece collar. Then moving on to shaped and frilled cuffs, shirt cuff and double shirt cuff.
How will I learn the techniques?
Your workshop tutor, Peter Foster, will demonstrate all techniques with samples to show you and handouts that you will be able to take with you if you wish. You are welcome to take as many photographs as you wish to keep a visual diary of your day.
Please note :-
